July 2007 Herrmann Herald

July has been a busy month. In preparation for moving both to Dallas and to the Philippines, we have been sorting, selling, giving and packing. The whole experience has been bitter-sweet. We pray daily for the Lord to detach our hearts from our material possessions and we Praise Him for His faithfulness! While we will not be perfect until we reach His Kingdom, we sold, we gave and we are following Him!

(Matthew 19:21)

Dallas, TX

Praise God for His provisions! Housing in Dallas has been secured. We have been blessed with the ability to rent a one-bedroom furnished apartment across from the Dallas SIL center where we will be training for the next four months.

Manila, Philippines

We have been working with a missionary couple in Manila, Philippines who are leaving in November, to secure their apartment for us in January. The apartment is very near to the SIL Center (about 5 min. walk). The landlord has agreed to rent to us, though we are still working out the logistics of the two-month vacancy and the rate of the rent. They are also putting together a list of items they would like to sell for minimal cost, which may help us in setting up house. Shipping items is very costly, so we are preparing to take only those items necessary for daily living that would be costly or impossible to get in the Philippines. Things such as a car, dishes, etc. will need to be purchased once we get there.

Making a cake and desserts Filipino style is a bit more challenging. They don’t rise as we expect a cake to, and steaming replaces baking! Our nieces, among others, came to the rescue, making the whole experience not only educational but so much fun! Thank you to all who helped! The desserts were enjoyed by everyone as they learned about Wycliffe and what God is doing through Bible translation at a “Presentation Filipino Style” at our church.
